AGENDA Agenda Each student will be given an agenda that is to be taken home and then brought back to school on a daily basis. The students will use these planners to write down their homework assignments and other reminders, and to convey messages from the school. I will use them to communicate with the child and with you. I ask you to use this book to write me notes whenever you wish. You may wish to write to your child as well. I have seen how enthusiastic children are about their agenda when their parents have written a note to them in it. Even a “Have a great day at school” note brightens any child’s day. In order to ensure that this book is being used, please sign or initial any communication from me which I will also do for your correspondence. I also strongly encourage you to review your child’s agenda throughout the week. I cannot stress enough how important the proper use of the agenda is.
If you have any questions or comments do not hesitate to e-mail me or give me a call. Please also note that I always appreciate a visit after school.
YOUR CHILD'S STUDY HABITS
It is important to continue developing good study skills in Grade 4/5. I suggest that you have a designated time and place for your child to do homework. A quiet place without distractions is best. Paper, pencil, eraser, ruler, dictionary, and anything else that may be needed should be kept there. Of course, assigned homework needs to be done first. More advanced notice will be given for assignments so that the workload can be distributed over the course of several days. I would like to ask that the students use handwriting in all of their written work. Please take a few minutes to sit down with your child and help plan a schedule for studying that could work well for him/her and for you.
I strongly encourage you to help your child develop good habits in order to always improve their language development. Also, please ALWAYS have your child read a little bit ideally in French everyday be it only 10 minutes. It is paramount that your child be exposed to other French language inputs even when they are not at school. Things like listening to French music, watching TV in French (cartoons, hockey game etc.). In the long run, good habits like these will make a tremendous difference in your child’s French level.
